The deadline for implementing the Occupational Safety and Health Management System has been extended

The Ministry of Labor has extended the implementation of the SG-SST for six months, which means that as of June 1, 2017, public and private companies should start implementing it.

The System includes five phases: initial evaluation, improvement plan, execution, monitoring and improvement plan, and inspection, monitoring and control

The motivation to extend the deadline was to achieve an adequate development in the execution of this new system, which necessarily requires a transition in phases or stages between the previous Occupational Health system and the one currently being proposed.

Recapitulating, the deadline established in Decree 171 of 2016, was January 31, 2017 for all companies, both public and private, next to be met, regardless of size and number of workers. Now, this new term was agreed to unify and apply for all types of business alike.
